If your family is enrolled in Nevada Medicaid, you get your health services through a Managed Care Organization (MCO). These are the health plans that help coordinate your care, pay for your covered services, and give you access to doctors, specialists, prescriptions, and more.

Every year, you have a chance to look at your plan and decide if it’s still the best fit for your family. That time is called open enrollment, and this year it takes place from October 1 through October 31.

What is Open Enrollment?

Open enrollment is the one time each year when Medicaid families can:

Any changes made during October take effect on January 1 of the next year.

Who Are Nevada’s MCOs?

Right now, Nevada families may be enrolled in one of these MCOs:

Starting in January 2026, families will also have the option of enrolling in CareSource, a nonprofit MCO that will serve families statewide.

How Do I Choose or Change My MCO?

When you think about whether to stay with your plan or switch, consider:

  1. Are your family’s current doctors and clinics in the plan’s network?
  2. Does the plan cover the medications, specialists, or therapies your family needs?
  3. Does it offer extra benefits that matter to you, like transportation or wellness programs?
  4. How easy is it to get care locally, especially if you live in a rural area?

If you decide you want to change plans:

  1. If you are currently enrolled in Medicaid, you should have received an open enrollment letter in July with information and instructions. If you did not receive a letter or you have any questions, contact your local Medicaid District Office:

                  Southern Nevada – 702-668-4200

                  Northern Nevada – 775-687-1900

  1. Complete the Open Enrollment Change Request form. You will need to fill in your Medicaid ID number (if not already on the form) and select a new MCO.

  1. Submit it during October (open enrollment). Your new plan will start on January 1, 2026.

You can also switch within the first 90 days after you first enroll in Medicaid, or outside those windows if you qualify for a “good cause” change (such as moving or your doctor not being in your plan).

Tips for Families

Open enrollment is your chance to make sure your family’s health plan is still the right one. Whether you stay with your current plan or decide it is time for a change - you have the power to choose the plan that best fits your family’s needs.

Mark your calendar: October 1–31 is Medicaid open enrollment. Take the time to review your plan, explore your options, and make the choice that works best for you and  your family.
