Community Events and Trainings - June 2025
Partners throughout the state host a variety of community events and trainings designed to engage families, provide valuable resources, and promote early childhood development. From workshops and educational sessions to fun, interactive activities for kids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
All of the events and trainings provided below are offered at no cost to participants. Some partners offer additional trainings which may charge a fee to participants. Monday, June 2nd
- The Children’s Cabinet – I’m Ready for K: Physical Development & Health – 11:00am to 12:00pm
- Location – NORTH LAS VEGAS – Aliante Library – 2400 Deer Springs Way, North Las Vegas, NV
- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional and academic skills needed for Pre-K and Kindergarten readiness.

Tuesday, June 3rd
- The Children’s Cabinet – Cunas Para Ninos – 10:00am to 11:30am
- Location – LAS VEGAS - 5905 South Decatur Blvd., Suite 13, Las Vegas, NV
- This class is offered in Spanish only.
- For pregnant mothers who are at least 6 months pregnant or have a child less than 6 months old.

- The Children’s Cabinet – I’m Ready for K: Social Studies and Social Emotional – 11:00am to 12:00pm
- Location – NORTH LAS VEGAS – Alexander Library – 1755 West Alexander Road, North Las Vegas, NV
- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional and academic skills needed for Pre-K and Kindergarten readiness.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Active Parenting First Five Years: Stimulating School Readiness – 6:00pm to 8:00pm
- Location – STATEWIDE VIRTUAL – Live Online Webinar
- Derived from the critically-acclaimed Active Parenting: The First Five Years, this class will discuss and provide activities to prepare your young child for both preschool and kindergarten. We will also explore the importance of limiting screen time, building social skills, stimulating independence, and co-reading together.

- La Fuerza de Familias Latinas – Reading at Home: Science in the Kitchen – 5:00pm to 6:00pm
- Location: STATEWIDE - Virtual
- Workshops provided in Spanish only.
- Participate in this virtual workshop, via Zoom, where you will see short videos with the famous presenter Gaby Rivero. In addition, you will be able to talk with other Latino parents and Latina mothers to share ideas on how to promote a love of reading in your children.

Monday, June 9th
- The Children’s Cabinet – Positive Solutions for Families #5: Teach Me What to Do! – 6:00pm to 8:00pm
- Location – RENO – 1090 S. Rock Blvd, Reno, NV
- This session centers on equipping families with the tools to teach children about emotions and feelings, how to manage anger, and how to solve problems constructively.

Tuesday, June 10th
- The Children’s Cabinet – I’m Ready for K: Creative Expression – 11:00am to 12:00pm
- Location – NORTH LAS VEGAS – Alexander Library – 1755 West Alexander Road, North Las Vegas, NV
- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional and academic skills needed for Pre-K and Kindergarten readiness.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Cómo usar los medios y la tecnología para reforzar los lazos familiares – 6:00pm to 7:30pm
- Location – STATEWIDE VIRTUAL – Live Online Webinar
- SPANISH Language Webinar
- Este taller presenta a los padres y cuidadores de niños de cero a ocho años los beneficios de usar los medios con sus hijos y les enseña estrategias para hacerles preguntas para fortalecer habilidades importantes en esas edades. • Este taller ayudará a los padres y cuidadores a: • Identificar los diferentes tipos de medios: pasivos, interactivos y creativos.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Understanding Sibling Rivalry – 6:00pm to 8:00pm
- Location – RENO – 1090 S. Rock Blvd, Reno, NV
- This class aims to equip parents with understanding of sibling rivalry, their role in navigating the sibling relationship, and provide strategies for managing and reducing conflict among siblings. This class will help foster a more peaceful and cooperative family dynamic by teaching conflict resolution skills and promoting positive interactions.

Saturday, June 14th
- Kids Free Fishing Day – 7:00am to 11:00am
- Location – RENO – Sparks Marina – 300 Howard Drive
- The Rotary Club of Sparks invites all area youth for a fun day of fishing and other fun activities. All necessary fishing gear will be provided free of charge! Kids must be accompanied by an adult.

- Readers in Training 3rd Annual Resource Fair – 10:00am to 12:00pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS – Spread the Word Nevada, 5373 Arville Street
- This event is free and open to the public. There will be kids’ activities, a live DJ, pizza, raffle and much more!

Monday, June 16th
- The Children’s Cabinet – VROOM – 10:30am to 11:30am
- Location – LAS VEGAS – Family 2 Family Connection, 3900 Cambridge Street, #107, Las Vegas, NV
- VROOM reinforces the knowledge of early brain development; teaches how to turn everyday moments into brain building moments; and encourages participants to have fun while trying some VROOM tips. Each activity session is designed for children 1-5 years old.

- Reno-Sparks Tribal Health Center Annual Health Fair – 9:00am to 3:00pm
- Location – RENO – 1715 Kuenzli Street
Sunday, June 29th
- Lamoille Country Fair – 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Location – LAMOILLE – Lamoille Grove, 730 Club House Lane, Lamoille, NV
- 50th Annual Lamoille Country Fair – Enjoy a day of food, shopping and activities for the kids. Admission is free and all are welcome!
