May Community Events and Trainings
Partners throughout the state host a variety of community events and trainings designed to engage families, provide valuable resources, and promote early childhood development. From workshops and educational sessions to fun, interactive activities for kids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
All of the events and trainings provided below are offered at no cost to participants. Some partners offer additional trainings which may charge a fee to participants. Click the links below to learn more or to register for the events and trainings. Y

Friday, May 2nd:

- The Children’s Cabinet – I’m Ready for K: Language and Literacy – 11 am to 12 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS – Aliante Library – 2400 Deer Springs Way, North Las Vegas, NV
- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social/emotional and academic skills needed for Pre-K and Kindergarten readiness.

Tuesday, May 6th:
- The Children’s Cabinet – Cunas Para Ninos – 10 am to 11:30 am
- Location: 5905 South Decatur Blvd., Suite 13, Las Vegas, NV
- This class is offered in Spanish only.
- For pregnant mothers who are at least 6 months pregnant or have a child less than 6 months old.

- La Fuerza de Familias Latinas – Reading at Home: Science in the Kitchen – 5 pm to 6 pm
- Location: STATEWIDE - Virtual
- Workshops provided in Spanish only.
- Participate in this virtual workshop, via Zoom, where you will see short videos with the famous presenter Gaby Rivero. In addition, you will be able to talk with other Latino parents and Latina mothers to share ideas on how to promote a love of reading in your children.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Vroom’s Brain Building Basics Made Simple: Everyday Strategies for Parents – 6 pm to 8 pm

- Discover how Vroom’s Brain Building Basics can turn everyday moments into powerful learning opportunities! - The Children’s Cabinet – I’m Ready for K: Social Studies and Social Emotional – 11 am to 12 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS – Aliante Library – 2400 Deer Springs Way, North Las Vegas, NV
- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social/emotional and academic skills needed for Pre-K and Kindergarten readiness.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Circle of Security Parenting (8-Part Program) – 5:30 pm to 7 pm
- Location – RENO – 1090 S. Rock Blvd., Reno, NV
- This parenting class is targeted at caregivers of young children (4mo to 6 years), but caregivers of children of all ages are welcome.This is an attachment-based program that helps caregivers to better understand your children’s needs and how to support them as they are experiencing both helpful and challenging behaviors. We focus on building a stable and secure relationship by learning how to balance being Bigger, Stronger, Wiser and Kind. This is a 12-hour program.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Positive Solutions for Families: Behavior has Meaning – 6 pm to 8 pm
- Location – STATEWIDE VIRTUAL – Live Online Webinar
- Participants will discover the importance of routines and how to set them up for family success. This class provides an introduction to the Family Routine Guide and helps to identify strategies for making transitions successful. Learn how to plan for when routines go well.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Understanding ADD & ADHD in Children – 6 pm to 8 pm
- Location – STATEWIDE VIRTUAL – Live Online Webinar
- This informative webinar provides caregivers with a better understanding of attention disorders in children, recognizing the symptoms of inattentiveness and impulsivity, and specific strategies to help their child. (This webinar is for information purposes only and does not diagnose any general or specific disorders, nor provide recommended treatments.)

Thursday, May 15th:
- The Children’s Cabinet – Cribs for Kids – 5 pm to 6 pm
- Location: RENO – Nevada Strong Start Child Care Services Center - 961 Matley Lane Suite 110
- A one-hour parenting class on the importance of understanding safe sleep practices to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID) which include SIDS and preventable deaths, like suffocation and strangulation, in bed.
