May 2026 Community Events and Trainings
Partners throughout the state host a variety of community events and trainings designed to engage families, provide valuable resources, and promote early childhood development. From workshops and educational sessions to fun, interactive activities for kids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
All of the events and trainings provided below are offered at no cost to participants. We also offer online courses. Some partners offer additional trainings which may charge a fee to participants. Saturday, May 2nd
- Spring Into Safety hosted by Nevada Child Seekers - 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

- The Children’s Cabinet – I'm Ready for K! – 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS–Aliante Library –2400 Deer Springs Way, North Las Vegas, NV 89084
- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional, and academic skills needed for pre-K and Kindergarten readiness, while providing an opportunity for positive parent-child interaction and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

Tuesday, May 5th

- Educación para un sueño seguro: Clase de 1.5 horas para padres sobre la importancia de practicar hábitos de sueño seguro para reducir el riesgo de muerte súbita infantil (SUID), que incluye el SMSL y muertes prevenibles como asfixia y estrangulación en la cama.

- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional, and academic skills needed for pre-K and Kindergarten readiness, while providing an opportunity for positive parent-child interaction and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

- The Children’s Cabinet –Cooperative Parenting after Divorce and Separation (4-part program) – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Location – RENO–Nevada Strong Start Child Care Services Center Reno –

- Cooperative parenting requires good communication skills and a willingness to place your child’s interests first. In addition to communication, we will discuss avoiding power struggles, managing anger, and conflict resolution. Your children will have the support and care they deserve. (This is an 8-hour program delivered over 4 two-hour sessions, for caregivers with children of all ages.)
- This is a 4-part series on: 5/5; 5/12; 5/19 and 5/26. Must attend all 4 sessions to get credit for court-ordered programs.

Wednesday, May 6th
- The Children’s Cabinet – STEM – 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS–Family 2 Family Connection –3900 Cambridge Street, Suite #107, Las Vegas, NV 89119
- The Children’s Cabinet provides a free 1.5-hour STEM class where participants (parents and children) will engage in several STEM activities and experiments. ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS: Parents of children ages 3-5.

- Children’s Advocacy Alliance - Policy Studio Workshop 3: Alignment & Readiness - 2:30pm to 5:00pm
- Location - LAS VEGAS - West Las Vegas Library - 1861 North Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89106
- Build policy skills! The Children’s Advocacy Alliance will share policy ideas gathered from previous events to help shape their policy agenda.

- The Children’s Cabinet –Nurturing Minds, Shaping Identities: Vroom’s Early Brain & Identity Develop – 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

- This training explores key stages of early brain development and the vital role of identity formation in childhood. Participants will deepen their understanding of how early experiences shape both cognitive growth and self-identity while gaining practical resources to support healthy identity development in young children.

- Little Choices Big Impact– 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

- Join Nevada Outdoor School for Little Choices, Big Impact, a hands-on program that explores how small, everyday decisions can shape our health, community, and future!
- Participants will learn practical ways to make positive changes through healthy eating, gardening, mindfulness, and other simple habits. This program is all about discovering how taking care of ourselves helps us take care of the world around us.

- This class will provide participants with strategies to support and promote children’s self-confidence and self-direction. Participants will learn to encourage children to express and identify their feelings and give children the skills to persevere and maintain their focus. Participants will understand the benefits of emotional literacy for children and the impact it can have on family relationships.

Wednesday, May 20th
- Family Health Festival - 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
- Location - RENO - Neil Road Recreation Center - 3925 Neil Road, Reno, NV 89502
- The Family Health Festivals (FHF) provides an opportunity for the community to connect to a variety of local education, employment, food, health, housing, safety, and transportation resources all in an effort to make small steps to a healthier life for all. Free services offered at the FHFs typically include the Food Bank’s Mobile Harvest, assistance with applying for SNAP (food stamps) benefits, immunizations, dental screenings, along with a wide variety of other resources.

- Cuidado del Bebé es una clase cálida e interactiva para mamás primerizas y para quienes dan la bienvenida a un bebé. Aprende los aspectos básicos del cuidado del recién nacido: baño, alimentación, alivio de cólicos, primeros hitos y más. También hablaremos sobre el bienestar posparto y compartiremos recursos comunitarios útiles. Cada familia recibirá un obsequio de bienvenida solo por asistir. ¡Únete para sentirte segura, apoyada y preparada para los primeros meses de tu bebé!

- The Children’s Cabinet – Process vs. Product – 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS–Family 2 Family Connection –3900 Cambridge Street Suite #107 Las Vegas, NV 89119
- While the main purpose of this workshop is to nurture creativity and provide a supportive environment for children to explore their artistic talents, parents will learn the difference between product and process-oriented art. Attendees will understand how art helps their children develop other essential life skills that will stay with them for years to come.
