March Community Events and Trainings
Partners throughout the state host a variety of community events and trainings designed to engage families, provide valuable resources, and promote early childhood development. From workshops and educational sessions to fun, interactive activities for kids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
All of the events and trainings provided below are offered at no cost to participants. We also offer online courses. Some partners offer additional trainings which may charge a fee to participants. Tuesday, March 3rd
- The Children’s Cabinet – Cunas Para Niños – 10:00 am to 11:30 am
- Location – LAS VEGAS–5905 South Decatur Blvd. Ste. 13 Las Vegas, NV 89118
- Educación para un sueño seguro: Clase de 1.5 horas para padres sobre la importancia de practicar hábitos de sueño seguro para reducir el riesgo de muerte súbita infantil (SUID), que incluye el SMSL y muertes prevenibles como asfixia y estrangulación en la cama.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Active Parenting for Stepfamilies – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Location – RENO–1090 South Rock Boulevard Reno, NV 89502
- Active Parenting for Stepfamilies is a program for both parents and stepparents. It demonstrates skills for raising children in the unique blended family environment, along with powerful communication and negotiation skills to strengthen marriage and family. The program covers topics that are unique to stepfamilies: the stepparent’s role, emotional baggage, differences in values, discipline, power struggles, and celebrating your blended family’s achievements.
- This is a 4-part series on: 3/3; 3/10; 3/17 and 3/24 Must attend all 4 sessions to get credit for court-ordered programs.

Wednesday, March 4th
- The Children’s Cabinet – I'm Ready for K! – 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS–Family 2 Family Connection- 3900 Cambridge Street #107 Las Vegas, NV 89119
- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional and academic skills needed for pre-K and Kindergarten readiness, while providing an opportunity for positive parent-child interaction and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

- Baby’s Bounty Diaper Drive– 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Friday, March 6th
- Children’s Advocacy Alliance - Policy Workshop 1: Listening & Priority Setting - 2:30pm to 5:00pm
- Location - LAS VEGAS - East Las Vegas Library - 2851 East Bonanza Road, Las Vegas, NV 89101
- Children’s Advocacy Alliance is hosting a free series of interactive policy workshops to co-create our child and youth-centered policy priorities. The series will lead to interim committee presentations and set the stage for our January 2027 policy summit / legislative agenda kick off.
- Workshop 1 will focus on identifying policy priorities across issues including child welfare, early childhood and children’s health.
- This session is open to foster youth, kinship youth, foster/kinship families, parents, child care providers, impacted families, and community-based organizations.

Saturday, March 7th
- Jeremiah Program - JP Summit X - Half Day Virtual Summit for Single Moms
- Location - STATEWIDE - VIRTUAL
- Jeremiah Program (JP) is building a nationwide movement of single moms, and they want you to be part of it! JP’s mission is to disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children, two generations at a time. One way they do that is to build community among single moms as they dream for themselves, their families, and their communities — and SummitX is the secret sauce!

- The Children’s Cabinet – Vroom: Brain Building with Toddlers– 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
- Location – RENO–Nevada Strong Start Child Care Services Center- 961 Matley Lane Suite 110 Reno, NV 89502
- The toddler years are full of big leaps and big feelings. In this class, parents and caregivers will learn how toddlers’ brains develop, discover Vroom tips tailored to this unique stage, and gain simple, effective ways to support learning and connection every day.

- Children’s Advocacy Alliance - Policy Workshop 2: Policy Options and Solutions - 2:30pm to 5:00pm
- Location - LAS VEGAS - West Las Vegas Library - 1861 North Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89106
- Children’s Advocacy Alliance is hosting a free series of interactive policy workshops to co-create our child and youth-centered policy priorities. The series will lead to interim committee presentations and set the stage for our January 2027 policy summit / legislative agenda kick off.
- Workshop 2 will focus on translating prioritized themes into viable policy solutions.
- This session is open to individuals who participated in Workshop 1 (March 6th), as well as policy and systems partners.

Monday, March 23rd
- The Children’s Cabinet – Cribs for Kids! – 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
- Location – RENO –Nevada Strong Start Child Care Services Center - 961 Matley Lane Suite 110 Reno, NV 89502
- This is a free parenting class on the importance of understanding safe sleep practices to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID), which include SIDS and preventable deaths, like suffocation and strangulation, in bed.

- The Children’s Cabinet – Promoting Language and Literacy – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Location – RENO –1090 South Rock Boulevard Reno, NV 89502
- Parents will learn how to promote their child's vocabulary growth through conversation and read to their children. Understand the basic sentence structure. Recognize letters and their sounds, and the ability to identify print in everyday life. Engage in interactive storytelling.Foster phonological awareness through rhyming and sound play.Encourage early writing skills through drawing and scribbling.

Wednesday, March 25th
- The Children’s Cabinet – Crib for Kids – 10:00 am to 11:30 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS–Anthem Community Wellness Center- 2348 East Bonanza Road, Las Vegas, NV 89101
- A one-hour parenting/caregiver class on the importance of safe sleep practices to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID) which include SIDS and other preventable deaths, like suffocation and strangulation, in bed. Participants will enhance their safe sleep education for the infant in their lives.
