February Community Events and Trainings

Partners throughout the state host a variety of community events and trainings designed to engage families, provide valuable resources, and promote early childhood development. From workshops and educational sessions to fun, interactive activities for kids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

All of the events and trainings provided below are offered at no cost to participants. We also offer online courses. Some partners offer additional trainings which may charge a fee to participants.  Tuesday, February 3rd 

• The Children’s Cabinet – Cribs for Kids! – 10:00 am to 11:00 am
  • Location – LAS VEGAS–5905 South Decatur Boulevard Las Vegas, NV 89118
  • A one-hour parenting/caregiver class on the importance of safe sleep practices to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID) which include SIDS and other preventable deaths, like suffocation and strangulation, in bed. Participants will enhance their safe sleep education for the infant in their lives.

• The Children’s Cabinet – Baby Care – 11:30 am to 1:00 pm
  • Location – LAS VEGAS–5905 South Decatur Boulevard Las Vegas, NV 89118
  • Baby Care is a warm, interactive class for first-time moms and any welcoming a new baby. Learn the essentials of newborn care—bathing, feeding, soothing colic, early milestones, and more. We'll also talk about postpartum wellness and share helpful community resources. Every family receives a free welcome baby gift just for attending. Join us to feel confident, supported, and ready for your baby's first months!

Wednesday, February 4th

• The Children’s Cabinet – I'm Ready for K! – 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
  • Location – LAS VEGAS–Family 2 Family Connection- 3900 Cambridge Street #107 Las Vegas, NV 89119
  • I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional and academic skills needed for pre-K and Kindergarten readiness, while providing an opportunity for positive parent-child interaction and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

Thursday, February 5th

• The Children’s Cabinet – Vroom: Brain Building Basics – 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm
  • Location – RENO–Nevada Strong Start Child Care Services Center- 961 Matley Lane Suite 110 Reno, NV 89502
  • Boost your child’s brainpower with simple, everyday moments! This class introduces parents and caregivers to Vroom’s Brain Building Basics - easy, science-backed strategies you can use at home to support healthy brain development in young children.

Tuesday, February 10th

• The Children’s Cabinet – I'm Ready for K! in Spanish – 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
  • Location – LAS VEGAS–250 North Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89101
  • I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional and academic skills needed for pre-K and Kindergarten readiness, while providing an opportunity for positive parent-child interaction and strengthening the parent-child relationship. This class is in Spanish.

• The Children’s Cabinet – The 5 Love Languages of Parenting – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  • Location – RENO–1090 S. Rock Blvd, Reno, NV 89502
  • Discover how to speak your child’s love language to strengthen your connection and support their emotional needs. Friday, February 13th

• Doula Co-Op and Anthem - Community Formula Distribution - 1:00pm to 4:00pm
  • Location - LAS VEGAS - Anthem Community Wellness Center - 2348 E. Bonanza Road, Las Vegas, NV 89101
  • The Doula Co-Op of Nevada is hosting a Community Formula Distribution event, sponsored by Anthem, to support local families and ensure access to essential infant nutrition.
  • FREE infant formula (multiple brands available) will be given to all families in need while supplies last.

Saturday, February 21st

• FREE Car Seat Giveaway - 9:00am to 12:00pm 
  • Location - LAS VEGAS - Manuel Cortez Elementary School - 4245 E. Tonopah Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89115
  • Clark County School District Police Department has teamed up with Car Seats for Christy, Safe Kids and The Healthy Living Institute for a Car Seat Giveaway, sponsored by Commissioner Tick Segerblom!
  • Come down to Manuel Cortez Elementary School on Saturday, February 21st to receive a FREE car seat and have it installed by a certified car seat technician - while supplies last.
  • You must have a child present to receive a car seat. 
  • Car seat checks will also be available.

Monday, February 23rd

  • Location – RENO –1090 S. Rock Blvd, Reno, NV 89502
  • Parents will learn how to promote an appreciation for and knowledge of different types of artistic expression, creation, and experiences in your child. Foster an appreciation for artistic expression in your child. Encourage children to participate and express themselves through a variety of creative and artistic experiences. Have children incorporate creative arts as part of other learning activities.
