Children's Mental Health Programs

Nevada offers a range of mental health services to support young children and their families. These programs help children build strong emotional skills early and give parents the tools they need to support their child’s development.

The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) provides children’s mental health services in Washoe County and Clark County. The Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health provides services in rural areas through their Rural Clinics across the state. These programs include therapy, early childhood assessments, parent–child (dyadic) services, and support for families facing stress, trauma, or behavior concerns. Dyadic care is especially important for young children because it strengthens the parent–child relationship, which is the foundation for healthy development.

In many communities, families can also access behavioral health clinics that offer counseling, guidance, and connections to other local supports. Rural areas may receive services through telehealth or visiting providers, helping families get care even if they live far from larger cities.

Together, these programs give Nevada families a strong network of early mental health support—helping young children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

If you or someone you know if experiencing a mental health crisis, call 988 for immediate assistance.
