Over 80% of seats in the Nevada State Legislature are up for grabs this election season, and the decisions made by the candidates we elect will directly shape policies that impact the health and well-being of children, families, and communities across our state. From early care and learning to child welfare, mental health, and family economic security—this election will set the course for Nevada's future.

What is the Children’s Advocacy Alliance (CAA)?
The Children’s Advocacy Alliance is an independent voice for Nevada’s children, advancing systemic change in the areas of early childhood education, children’s health, and child welfare. We achieve public policy wins through collaboration and collective impact within the community to ensure every child in Nevada thrives.

At CAA, we believe that voting is one of the most powerful ways to create change. It is critical that we elect leaders who prioritize children’s health and well-being and enact policies that support the youngest members of our community. That’s why we’ve launched the NVVotes4Kids initiative, a nonpartisan campaign designed to make children’s issues a central focus in the 2024 election.

Why Children’s Issues Matter in the 2024 Election
Currently, Nevada stands at 47th in the nation for overall child well-being. We face significant challenges in early care and learning, access to physical and mental health services, and family economic instability.

Real change starts by supporting children during the earliest stages of life. During the 2025 legislative session CAA and our partners will fight to improve our early childhood systems by expanding access to quality early leaning and child care programs, including universal pre-kindergarten and home-based childcare services.

We are also working with lawmakers to address the child mental health provider shortage, improve access to prenatal healthcare, and passing policies to address the root causes of neglect such as housing & food insecurity.

In order to be effective advocates, it imperative that future decision makers understand that these issues are top of mind for voters when they go to the polls this election season.

NVVotes4Kids: A Campaign for Change
Recently, CAA launched our NVVotes4Kids campaign, a nonpartisan voter education and mobilization campaign. The NVVotes4Kids.org website provides essential resources, including information on voter registration, tools to identify elected officials, and the opportunity to sign the “I Vote for Kids” pledge.

This election, you have the power to stand up for Nevada’s youngest and most vulnerable. By pledging to vote, you demonstrate that issues affecting children—such as early care and learning, child welfare, children’s health, and family economic well-being—are top of mind for you. Our children deserve policies that prioritize their needs and invest in their futures.

To amplify this message, CAA will also launch a series of nonpartisan digital ads throughout the early vote period and on election day, reminding Nevadans to vote with children’s needs in mind.
Help create a brighter future for Nevada’s children by taking the pledge to vote. Share this article with your friends and family and join us in making sure children’s issues are at the forefront of the 2024 election. Vote like their future depends on it—because it does!
