You may have noticed that when you click on a MyPlate link from an older First 5 Nevada article, it doesn’t look the same as it used to—or it takes you to a page called “Real Food.”
That can be confusing, so here’s what’s going on in plain language.
MyPlate didn’t disappear—but it did change.
MyPlate is no longer shown as its own main website the way it was for many years. The federal government updated how it shares nutrition information and created a new site called RealFood.gov.
Because of that change, many MyPlate links from the past now lead families to this new “Real Food” page instead.
What does this mean for families?
So even though you may not see the MyPlate pages you remember, the ideas behind MyPlate—balanced meals, affordable foods, and kid-friendly nutrition—are still being used.
What about Shop Simple and recipes?
The Shop Simple tool and many MyPlate recipes are no longer opening as MyPlate web pages, even though they are still used by nutrition programs like SNAP-Ed and WIC.
This means:
First 5 Nevada will continue to point families to easy-to-use, budget-friendly food tools that help with grocery shopping and meals for young children—even when the names or websites change.
The most important thing to know
Healthy eating guidance for families has not gone away. It’s just being shared differently now. First 5 Nevada is here to help families find the right information, in the right place, at the right time, without the stress of chasing broken links.
