Parenting a baby, toddler, or preschooler is a journey filled with joy, curiosity, and plenty of questions. The Children’s Cabinet’s Parent Education & Support Services are built to meet families where they are—offering guidance, community, and strategies that make daily life a little easier and more rewarding.

Parents can choose from a wide variety of classes, such as:

Each session is led by trained facilitators who understand the ups and downs of parenting young children. Classes are interactive and welcoming, encouraging parents to share experiences and learn from each other.

As one Reno mom shared,

“I used to feel frustrated when my toddler wouldn’t listen. After taking Positive Solutions for Families, I learned how to stay calm, set clear boundaries, and focus on connection. Our home feels so much happier now.”

Whether it’s learning how to support a child’s emotional development, improve bedtime routines, or encourage early literacy, parents walk away from each class with real, useful tools they can use immediately.

And best of all, these resources are free and available both online and in person in northern and southern Nevada. Classes are available in English and Spanish, with some sessions offering evening or weekend times to fit busy schedules. Families who attend often share that they feel a greater sense of community and connection afterward.

It truly takes a village to raise a child—and that village includes early educators and childcare providers who spend countless hours helping Nevada’s youngest children learn and grow.

The Children’s Cabinet’s Provider Education & Training Workshops are designed specifically for these professionals. By offering ongoing professional development, The Cabinet ensures providers have access to the latest research, techniques, and resources in early childhood education.

Workshop topics include:

When early childhood educators participate in these trainings, it benefits not only their own professional growth but also the children and families they serve. Providers who feel supported and well-trained can better nurture each child’s potential and respond effectively to behavioral or developmental needs.

Why Early Learning Matters

The first five years of life are often called the “foundation years” for a reason. During this time, a child’s brain forms over one million neural connections every second. The relationships, environments, and interactions a child experiences during these years directly influence their ability to learn, communicate, and build healthy relationships later in life.

By attending a parenting class or workshop, parents and caregivers gain more than just knowledge—they gain confidence. They learn how to turn everyday moments, like bath time or a trip to the grocery store, into meaningful learning opportunities.

“It’s amazing how small changes make a big difference,” shared one father after attending a class. “Now I talk to my baby about what we’re doing, even if she can’t respond yet. I know she’s learning from every word.”

The Children’s Cabinet’s programs are based on decades of child development research showing that when adults feel supported, children thrive. These classes and trainings give parents and providers the skills to build nurturing, predictable environments where young children feel safe, loved, and ready to explore.

Parenting doesn’t come with an instruction manual—but thanks to programs like those offered by The Children’s Cabinet, Nevada families don’t have to figure it all out alone. These parenting classes and provider workshops help adults feel supported, capable, and connected during the most important years of a child’s life.

By working together, parents and providers create environments where every child can learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Because when families are supported from the very beginning, Nevada’s future shines brighter.
