Families play the most important role in a child’s early learning - and everyday moments at home offer powerful opportunities to support development. To help Nevada families feel confident and supported, First 5 Nevada has added new, easy-to-use PDF resources, developed by the Nevada Department of Education, to the Early Learning Connections page.
These resources are designed especially for families of four- to five-year-old children, helping turn daily routines into meaningful learning experiences that build skills for school and life.
Practical Tools for Real Life Moments
The new at-home learning resources focus on areas families often ask about—big emotions, problem-solving, and how young children learn through play and exploration. Each downloadable PDF includes simple explanations of how children develop, along with practical activity ideas that fit naturally into family routines. No special materials or training are required—just time, connection and curiosity.

Supporting Kindergarten Readiness—One Day at a Time
These at-home learning resources are aligned with Nevada’s early learning standards and are designed to promote kindergarten readiness in a developmentally appropriate way. Rather than focusing on worksheets or drills, the resources emphasize relationships, conversation and play—key elements that support healthy brain development during the first five years of life.

Each spring, families across the country come together to say “thank you” during Child Care Provider Appreciation Day, an annual celebration recognizing the essential work of child care providers and early childhood educators.
This national day of action highlights just how essential child care is—not only for young children and their families, but for our entire economy. A Day Without Child Care brings visibility to these challenges and calls for solutions that support children, families and the people who care for them.
Developed by the national early childhood organization ZERO TO THREE, the Baby Brain Map is an easy-to-use, interactive guide that visually explains how a child’s brain is built over time. Rather than focusing only on milestones, the Brain Map explores what’s happening inside a baby’s brain.
