When parents need someone they trust to care for their young children, they often turn to the people who know and love them best - a grandparent, another relative or even a family friend or neighbor. These caregivers are known as Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) caregivers, and each September, FFN Appreciation Week recognizes the important role they play in helping children and families thrive. In 2026, FFN Appreciation Week takes place September 13-18, beginning on National Grandparents' Day.
September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, a reminder that healthy habits start early. From family meals and active play to healthy sleep routines and nutritious foods, small daily choices can have a lasting impact on a child's well-being. Discover five simple ways to support healthy growth, development, and lifelong wellness during your child's most important early years.
