About the Book:

The Emotional Life of the Toddler, by Alicia F. Lieberman, summarizes the complex emotional world of children ages 1 to 3, focusing on their intense feelings, drive for independence, and crucial need for secure attachments with caregivers, explaining behaviors like tantrums, and “no” as normal struggles to balance autonomy with comfort, and offering practical guidance for parents on managing stress, discipline, and building resilience. The book highlights the developing toddler brain’s limited self-control, the importance of play, and the “secure base” a parent provides for exploration, addressing common issues like sleep, sibling rivalry, and transitions.
