January Community Events and Trainings
Partners throughout the state host a variety of community events and trainings designed to engage families, provide valuable resources, and promote early childhood development. From workshops and educational sessions to fun, interactive activities for kids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
All of the events and trainings provided below are offered at no cost to participants. We also offer online courses. Some partners offer additional trainings which may charge a fee to participants. Tuesday, January 6th
- The Children’s Cabinet – Cunas Para Niños/ Cribs for Kids in Spanish – 10:00 am to 11:30 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS– 5905 S. Decatur Blvd. Ste. 13 Las Vegas, NV 89118
- This is a free parenting class on the importance of understanding safe sleep practices to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID), which include SIDS and preventable deaths, like suffocation and strangulation, in bed. This class will be taught in Spanish!

- The Children’s Cabinet –Active Parenting First Five Years: You and Your Child – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Location – RENO– 1090 S. Rock Blvd Reno, NV 89502
- The first five years of a child’s life are critical to their development. There are many influences on a child’s development, but the first and most fundamental is the child’s parent or caregiver. During this class we will explore the various stages of child development from birth to age 5, styles of parenting and help parents and caregivers understand the importance of building a parent/child bond, play and self-care.

Wednesday, January 7th
- The Children’s Cabinet – I’m Ready for K! – 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
- Location – LAS VEGAS –Family 2 Family Connection- 3900 Cambridge Street #107 Las Vegas, NV 89119
- I'm Ready for K Sessions are designed for children ages 3-5 years old with the primary aim of teaching social, emotional, and academic skills needed for pre-K and Kindergarten readiness, while providing an opportunity for positive parent-child interaction and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

Tuesday, January 13th
- The Children’s Cabinet –Active Parenting First Five Years: Preventing Problems from Escalating – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Location – Reno– 1090 S. Rock Blvd Reno, NV 89502
- In this class, parents/caregivers will start to understand basic brain development in early childhood. They will learn how to identify ways of preventing accidents and problems. They will also learn the difference between discipline and punishment and understand the importance of routines and expressing affection to children.

Wednesday, January 21st

- Location – Reno– 1090 S. Rock Blvd Reno, NV 89502
- Discover how to speak your child’s love language to strengthen your connection and support their emotional needs. Based on the bestselling framework by Dr. Gary Chapman, this class helps parents identify their child’s primary love language and apply it in everyday interactions. Learn practical ways to express love in the way your child understands best, fostering trust, respect, and resilience.

Saturday, January 24th
- Remsa Health– Safety Seats! – 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Location – RENO – 1090 S. Rock Blvd Reno, NV 89502
- The REMSA Health Safety Seats program offers free checkpoints throughout the community. We will check for obvious defects and determine whether the car seat appears on a national recall list. Our free checkpoints are staffed by volunteers. Your donations are always appreciated and are used locally.

Monday, January 26th

- This is a free parenting class on the importance of understanding safe sleep practices to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID), which include SIDS and preventable deaths, like suffocation and strangulation, in bed. This class will be taught in Spanish!

- The Children’s Cabinet –Active Parenting First Five Years: Stimulating School Readiness – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Location – RENO – 1090 S. Rock Blvd Reno, NV 89502
- Derived from the critically acclaimed program Active Parenting: The First Five Years, we will discuss and provide activities to prepare your young child for both preschool and kindergarten. We will also encourage the importance of limiting screen time, building social skills, stimulating independence, and co-reading together.

- Clark County School District – Super Saturday: Garden Party at the Springs Preserve – 8:00 am to 11:00 am
- Location – (333 S Valley View Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89107LAS VEGAS–2348 East Bonanza Road Las Vegas, NV 89101
- A fun, family-friendly morning filled with hands-on activities, access to beautiful botanical gardens, and a community resource fair.
