The First 5 Nevada Leadership Academy (F5NLA), launched in 2024, is a cohort-style six month immersive training program for emerging or existing leaders within the early childhood system. The purpose of this training series is to equip professionals with the knowledge, expertise and resources necessary to support the development and sustainability of a comprehensive, coordinated early childhood system in Nevada.
Each year, the F5NLA will provide training, coaching, and mentorship opportunities for a cohort of professionals from across the State of Nevada, representing the range of early childhood system sectors including:
We strive to include a diverse group of professionals who are interested in taking a leadership role to support a comprehensive and coordinated early childhood system that supports the needs of Nevada's children, families, and providers.
The F5NLA includes six course modules:
Module 1 - Essentials, Leadership, and Systems Thinking
Module 2 - Early Childhood Governance and Policy
Module 3 - Health, Mental Health, & Nutrition Services
Module 4 - Early Care and Education Programs
Module 5 - Family Supports and Economic Well-Being
Module 6 - Next Steps for Early Childhood Leadership in Nevada
The purpose of these modules is to allow participants to have an understanding of how the early childhood system works, as well as opportunities and methods to utilize their skills and positions to support comprehensive, cross-sector improvements.
F5NLA participants commit to attending two in-person meetings (one at the beginning of the cohort and another at the end), monthly 2-hour virtual cohort meetings, and weekly virtual training sessions (available live and via recording).

The F5NLA launched in 2024 with fifteen early childhood professionals from across the State who completed over 60 hours of training, coaching, and collaborative interaction. During the final meeting and graduation, participants presented group projects that highlighted innovative approaches to cross-sector collaborations to improve Nevada's Early Childhood System.
